Havasupai

We would like to thank the McNeils for watching the children, so Cliff and I could go on vacation. Thank you so much!! We cannot wait to repay the favor. Our dentist invited Cliff, Keri, Mom and Dad to go to Havasupai, what an awesome dentist! It is a natural spring in one of the deepest spots of the Grand Canyon. It is amazing. You look one way and it is like you are in Costa Rica in the rain forest you look the other way, and you are in the red cliffs of the grand canyon. It is a 10 mile hike to your camp, then you hike around to the various water falls and such for a few days. Then you have a 10 mile up hill hike out that starts at 4 am, so it is not to hot when you are done. We jumped off a 30-35 foot water fall, we swam in crystal clear pools, we swam behind waterfalls, and jumped through them, Keri fell face first down an 8 foot cliff, and we slept on hard, hard ground. We loved every moment of it, and cannot wait to take our boys back in 10 years. We had pack mules haul all the gear and food in. So you hike 50 miles in 5 days and gain 6 pounds... perfect vacation. Thanks for taking us Mom & Dad. It will be a memory forever!

Ryder is 1

At one Ryder loves to follow Bode around. He loves to torture the turtle.. pushing it, eating it, following it. He loves cuddles and loves you to kiss him over and over and over! He will lean his face into get a kiss, take it away and bring it back for more.. it is so darling. His first word is ROARRR... thanks to Bode and his Dad. He loves it when Bode will give his 2 seconds of his time to tackle him, give him a toy, let him on the tramp to try and jump. He is a happy kid, he is very independent. His Grandpa Paulsen calls him Robbie and is one of his biggest fans. He has huge feet.. He got the Paulsen feet. The shoes that just came off Bode fit him.. bummer! He has the bluest eyes. He goes to other people easily, if you want a huge, and will love him, he will love you! We feel so blessed to have his smile and love in our home. Bode blew out his candle and opened all his presents. Bode sang him happy birthdaday.. It was so cute!

Biking.. Potty Trained!!

This summer we have loved the wiggle car. This is the third pair of shoes that look like this. We finally stopped puchasing new shoes. You should've seen the looks at church with these shoes. The truth is.. They have been duck taped more times then I can count, and all his socks look the same way. Bode spent hours on his little blue car, racing around the circle, back and forth. He learned to come down the steep driveways. He was not allowed to go into the road, so he could steer down the drive way at high speeds and hit the side walk and up the side walk.. He has some mad skill!
Early in the summer we purchased him a bike and told him if he pooped on the toilet 5 times he could have the bike... He got the bike! We are potty trained! What an excellent day to only have 1 child in diapers. So he got his bike on 8/29/09.. a sunday around 9 at night. We took it out, he could only pedal downhill. The next morning, and every morning for the next 3 weeks he would run into our room.."Mommy, lets go bikin'". He loves it. By day 2 he was an expert, by day 3 he was unstoppable, and by day 4 he was living on the bike. He would ride the biking singing, "I'm goin' bikin, I'm goin Bikin" over and over! He thought he was big and he could ride in the road. We decided.. okay a little. On day 1 no cars came into the circle. On day 2 one car came into the circle, he knew he had to get on the sidewalk fast. He went full speed at the curb, hit the curb at full speed.. flipped over the handle bars and landed on his back on the grass... Safe, he was out of the road.. Day 3 one car came into the circle.. same routine.. flat on his back! Day 4 he no longer rides in the road, he decided he liked the sidewalk.
